Thank you for your interest in my work. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am an Ithaca local, having grown-up here and raised my two children here. For the last sixteen years I have maintained a private massage practice and for thirteen years I have been a professional member of American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). Now that my children are young adults, I am currently finishing a bachelorette of science in community and human services.
My background in dance highly informs my body awareness and therefore my massage practice. As a graduate of Finger Lakes School of Massage, I have training in Swedish Massage, Shiatsu, Connective (or Deep) Tissue Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Sports Massage, Hydrotherapy, Elder Massage, Reflexology, Pregnancy Massage, Chair Massage, and the use of therapeutic essential oils. I have further training as a doula and in Pre-natal and Infant Massage. I applied this training for a few years working in tandem with Monica Daniel RN, CNM, Lac and within a local OBGYN practice. Another of my interests was a deeper study of Neuromuscular Therapy. So, I trained in Integrated Neuromuscular Re-education with Theresa Schmidt, and Orthopedic Massage with James Waslaski. Which allows me to create a more effective medical massage practice. My practice took a turn when I was mentored by Suzanne Kates LMT who specializes in Elder Massage. She introduced me to working within elder care facilities. And since then, I have also integrated home visits for elders into my practice. Additionally further training in Thai Yoga enhances my integration of meridian work into my practice. And though I prefer to work on the table I am also comfortable creating a session for the floor mat. Recently I completed the first Cranial Sacral training and plan to do further Cranial Sacral education. I also enjoy integrating Hot Stones into a session. For me, a beautiful aspect of our bodies and massage is that there is always more to learn.
The modalities I use in each session change according to what a client brings to the table. I enjoy working with clients that need stress reduction through supportive touch or need treatment of specific physical limitations from trauma, overuse or misuse, postural imbalances, energy blockages or weaknesses, and chronic pain. Stress reduction can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. Other remarkable benefits of massage are increased range of motion, decreased pain, postural balance, and a better night’s sleep. But one of my favorite benefits of massage is self-awareness. This informs our decisions, present and future. I have worked a lot with pregnant women, elders, musicians, abuse survivors, athletes, over worked parents, and people that are not getting meaningful touch anywhere else in their lives. I create an environment for clients where they feel supported, witnessed, and accepted for who they are in that moment. For more information on modalities please follow the link at the top of the page.

"Inge Johnson is a superb massage therapist. When my body is sore, she knows exactly where to touch to relieve the pain. When my spirit is hurting, she does something, I don't know what, to move the energy and heal me."
